Bio TA

Biological Oil Stain Remover - Tarmac & Asphalt

A novel approach to the removal of oil stains on tarmac and asphalt surfaces: Bio TA is a biological oil stain remover that rapidly removes and digests oil contamination and will not erode or degrade tarmac or asphalt surfaces.

Containing a blend of biodegradable surfactants, biological enzymes and friendly bacteria, Bio TA penetrates and lifts oil contamination from surfaces and biologically digests stains for complete removal.

How does Bio TA work?

Our biological oil stain removing products, including Bio TA, contain specially selected bacteria which naturally digest oil and hydrocarbon contamination.

While the food source − ie oil − is present, the bacteria keep on working and continue to do so until it’s all gone!

For the biological cleaning of oil contamination to be effective, it requires:

  • Food source
  • Warm conditions
  • Moist conditions
  • Oxygen
  • The correct bacteria

On the basis that the first four conditions are in place, the bacteria selected for use in our products will digest oil stains into water and CO2 - from light oils to heavy crude.

Note:

  • The bacteria used in our products are Euro Type 1 (safe for long term laboratory application and safe for long term general public exposure).
  • Oil stains can degrade Tarmac and Asphalt leaving behind an etched surface which appears as a dark stain − this cannot be removed.

Where to Use

  • Designed to remove and digest oil contamination on tarmac and asphalt surfaces, including driveways, patios, paths, roads and car parks.
  • Bio TA is not suitable for use on synthetic oils, hydraulic fluid and wood oils.

How to Use

  • Shake container before use (to put bacteria into suspension).
  • Wet the oil stain with water before applying Bio TA.
  • Apply neat to the oil stain and brush in vigorously for 2-3 minutes.
  • Leave for 10-15 minutes then rinse with water.

Note:

  • For best results or for when using on larger stains, cover the treated area with polythene sheeting − ideally making a tent − and keep in place for up to a week.
  • Ensure the area remains damp, but not flooded, to provide a warm and damp environment and give the bacteria used in Bio TA the best conditions to grow and digest the oil.
  • Oil contamination on tarmac and asphalt can lead to surface etching which produces a colour change, often appearing as a dark stain. This is caused by the solvent action of the hydrocarbon and is irreversible: Bio TA will not remove this.
